Words to The Autumn Wind (Raiders theme song)

Filed under: NFL, Oakland Raiders — Bill @ 9:52 am

Last week I was searching the web and was surprised not to find the words (or lyrics if you will) to the Raiders theme The Autumn Wind. Well I decided to solve the problem, I am posting them here.

Originally written by NFL Films producer Steve Sabol then read by the legendary voice of John Facenda. Sabol’s father Ed founded NFL Fims and is now in the NFL Hall of Fame. Facenda, before becoming the voice of the NFL, was a television news anchorman in Philadelphia. Imagine listening to him bringing you the nightly news…

Autumn Wind
By Steve Sabol

The autumn wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea

With a rollicking song
He sweeps along
Swaggering boisterously

His face is weather-beaten
He wears a hooded sash
With a silver hat about his head
And a bristling black moustache

He growl as he storms the country
A villain big and bold
And the trees all shake
And quiver and quake
As he robs them of their gold

The autumn wind is a Raider
Pillaging just for fun
He’ll knock you ‘round
And upside down
And laugh when he’s conquered and won.

    • First of all it’s just one guy, me, and I’ve been lax lately because I’ve been trying to finish my updated “more fan friendly” game list. I archive old NFL games on dvd, a huge collection, a massive task, but I’m trying to get it done by the start of training camp. So join the subscription (free) and you will be notified.
