Hol Toledo, is this Bill King’s Last Interview?

Filed under: A.F.L., Baseball, Baskettball, Oakland A's, Oakland Raiders — Bill @ 6:29 pm

On his 78th birthday, in what is likely his last public words, is the great Bill King. He called into KNBR to comment about the history of “the spike”. Sadly he died just 12 days later.

Bill King also discusses being an announcer with facial hair.

We miss you Bill

  1. Thanks for posting this Billy…while I listened I was trying to formulate just why he was so great…he was super knowledgeable about sports, very well-spoken, gracious, very intelligent beyond sports in regards to history & culture, but first and foremost Bill King was a great storyteller – he could paint a picture in the minds of his listeners that was vivid, exciting, dramatic, witty and often humorous. His recollection of broadcasting the preseason game in Franklin Field in his bathing suit when the Eagles came out and were roundly booed was a little classic…he was superb!…and you are right – he is dearly missed…
