What’s New in Vintage Baseball Games TV & Radio

Holy Toledo its hot!
While we are still basking in the heat of summer I wanted to give you an update on my newest acquisitions of vintage Baseball. Some very special items of some very special moments. Lots of baseball specials and documentaries, of course TV broadcasts too. You might also notice some rare Lon Simmons (Hall of Fame announcer) radio broadcasts.

Football will be here soon, so look for my offseason acquisitions posted here soon.

A’s show what lies ahead, good pitching, defense & power. Young Reggie Jackson doubles, triples & homers, Rick Monday homers, “Captain” Sal Bando knocks in 4 RBI and Campaneris steals 2 bags. A’s 3B coach is Joe Dimaggio. Recording ends after 8 innings A’s leading 13-1. Picture is pretty soft but still very cool stuff. 2 disks

1987 National League Championship Series
St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants
All 7 games on DVD. The MVP and all the headlines of this dramatic series focus on “The Hack Man” Jeffrey Leonard and his “One Flap Down”. In the end however it was the Cardinal pitching that sent them to the Fall Classic.
Announcers for the series are Vin Scully & Joe Garagiola

Game 1 San Francisco at St. Louis
The Giants have the power, while the Cards have the speed
Clark, Mitchell, Leonard, Chili Davis & Maldonado vs. Coleman, Ozzie Smith, McGee, Herr & Pendleton Pregame by Marv Albert & Joe Morgan includes player introductions.

Game 2 San Francisco at St. Louis
Dave Dravecky is masterful as he tosses a 2 hitter. Will Clark & Jeff Leonard provide the offense as they both homer. Giants try to steal home twice. Postgame includes Dravecky interview.

Game 3 St. Louis at San Francisco
McGrane vs. Hammaker
The series moves west to Candlestick. Down 4-0 in the 6th, the Cards mount a comeback. Pregame & postgame by Marv Albert & Joe Morgan. Vin Scully & Joe Garagiolia

John Tudor & Dave Dravecky hook up in a classic 1-0 gem of a game. Tony Pena scores the only run on a sacrifice fly by Jose Oquendo. Pregame by Marv Albert & Joe Morgan

Game 7 San Francisco at St. Louis
It all comes down to this, one game to decide the pennant. The game turns quickly as Jose Oquendo hits a 3-rum bomb off Atlee Hammaker in the 2nd. Cardinals pitching holds the powerful Giants offense scoreless over the final 22 innings (1st ever back-to-back shutouts in the history of the NLCS). Includes pregame and postgame celebration.

1988 American League Championship Series
Oakland Athletics vs. Boston Red Sox
All 4 games on DVD
Mr. 40-40 Jose Canseco vs. Boston’s powerful lineup of Rice, Evans, Burks, Boggs & Greenwell. MVP of the series is Dennis Eclersley, who saved all 4 games, but just as easily it could have been Jose Canseco or Dave Henderson.
Gary Bender, Joe Morgan & Reggie Jackson are the series announcers.

Game 1 Oakland at Boston
Excellent pitching matchup Bruce Hurst vs. Dave Stewart. In pregame is an interesting interview of Canseco by Reggie Jackson. Tight game down to the final out.

Game 2 Oakland at Boston
Roger Clemens vs. Storm Davis in another tight game. Canseco homers again & Eckersley saves it again. Includes player introductions in the pregame.

Game 3 Boston at Oakland
The series shifts to Oakland, Mike Boddicker vs. Bob Welch. Down 5-0 early the A’s fight back with 4 HR’s, taking a commanding lead in the series..

Game 4 Boston at Oakland
A’s finish off th sweep in another close game, Stewart shuts down the Sox, Canseco hits his 3rd HR of the series & Eck closes the door. Postgame included with Reggie Jackson presenting the MVP trophy.

1989 American League Championship Series
Oakland Athletics vs. Toronto Blue Jays
All 5 games on DVD
Billed as Cito Gaston’s Jays with Fred McGriff & George Bell vs. The Bash Brothers. Instead it turned into The Rickey Henderson Show. Bob Costas & Tony Kibek are the announcers

Game 1 Toronto at Oakland
Stewart vs. Stieb
Pregame includes breaking news Art Shell hired by Raiders, Marv Albert interviews Al Davis & Art Shell, some audio static. C quality

Game 2 Toronto at Oakland
Moore vs. Stottlemyre
Rickey steals 4 bases, goes 2 for 2, with 2 walks & 2 runs scored. “The Cobra” Dave Parker hits a big HR & Eckersley gets the save

Game 3 Oakland at Toronto
Jimmy Key beats Storm Davis. Six different Bluejays drive in runs. Pregame.

Game 4 Oakland at Toronto
Bob Welch vs. Mike Flanagan. The game will be remembered for Canseco’s mammoth shot, but meanwhile Rickey continues his rampage, 2 HR’s & 4 RBI. Audio static starts about halfway thru, C quality.

Game 5 Oakland at Toronto
Dave Stewart & Eck nail down the series in a tight ballgame. Rickey is named MVP, he stole 8 bases (caught none), was on base 13 times, scored 8 runs, 1 double, 1 triple, 2 HR’s, & drove in 5. Some postgame celebration included.

1989 National League Championship Series
San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs
Games 1, 2, 3, & 5 on DVD
Most considered these two teams very evenly matched Managers Roger “Hum Baby” Craig vs. “Popeye” Don Zimmer. Will Clark, Kevin Mitchell & Matt Williams vs.
Sandberg, “The Hawk” Andre Dawson, Grace & Dunston
What baseball fans will always remember about this series is one defining at bat,
the hit by Will Clark off of Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams
The legendary Vin Scully & Tom Seaver announce the series.

Game 1 San Francisco at Chicago
The series open at Wrigley with a wild 1st inning. Will Clark 2 HR’s including a grand slam. Scott Garrelts vs. Greg Maddux
